【事前案内の Abstract】 In this talk I will detail the recent studies of the varieties and functions of awe. I will consider the cultural history of awe and how it has evolved over time, shaped by cultural forces. In turning to the study of the neurophysiology of awe I will consider the mammalian evolution of awe. And I will present evidence concerning how awe bonds people to social collectives.
